From Rocky Mountain High
I’m in Colorado for a brief respite from the heat in the desert. I don’t have any laptop service so I can’t send any video updates out, unless I go to Starbucks and draw crazy stares from the baristas while I talk to my computer. I’m avoiding that, so that’s why you get the simple email update from my iPad.
Major Fire Damage in Ft. Collins
We drove up the Poudre Canyon with our sack lunches to view the fire damage and have a picnic by the river. I haven’t been up there in a few years. The pine beetle kill and the fire damage is just enormous. It’s still one of my favorite little slices of heaven, but the damage is significant.
Also, there are many places I used to pull off the road and fly fish that are now fee only for camping and not for day use. They were all empty. I must have broken the law as I ignored the signs and we had a nice lunch by the river. What idiot decided to close such beautiful resources to the happy “day camper”? Government gone wild I guess.
Deceiving Market Activity
Speaking of government gone wild. How about the stock market? In the face of “packaged” news stories from mainstream media about the dire straits of our world, the market keeps rising.
Doesn’t it seem like a giant disconnect? Well, it is.
Don’t Let the Market Fool You
The market will continue to try and fool all of us. It’s the deep pocket pros vs the retail investor. It’s the war of wars, always has been, always will be. Make no mistake, the pros are trying to take your money… just in a very subtle way. They will always give you hope and that’s about all you will be left with unless you learn to play their game.
Learn to Play the Game
What’s their game you might ask? It’s having a sell strategy. Pure and simple. It’s the only way to succeed.
It’s quite obvious that having a sell strategy is the most important aspect of short term trading, but not so obvious for long term investors, especially those conditioned to the self serving strategy of Wall Street advisors that preach buy and hold.
I really don’t care what your sell strategy is, as long as it’s effective at limiting losses and booking gains. I’ll be back in the desert on Wednesday this week with full use of my communication devices and plan on doing a video update then.
I will sign off now to enjoy another beautiful Colorado day,
P.S. By the way, we’re up 20% since purchasing NVDA three weeks ago, and up 14% since purchasing MET.
P.P.S Please ignore the news and trade the important pivot points with an effective sell strategy.
